Normandie at Santa Monica Blvd.

Yesterday, I took the (Red Line) train from North Hollywood and got off at Santa Monica at Vermont and walked west along Santa Monica Blvd.

I passed much life and activity, ethic groceries, bodegas, barber shops, sidewalk vendors, churches. It’s a teeming, burgeoning, fascinating and colorful place.

But at certain points, such as the corner of Normandie and Santa Monica Blvd. one has to truly look in disbelief at the trash, the tagging, the high security steel fencing. This is an environment where children and families walk.

And this is what I saw in daylight. It is hell within the city of Angels.
